Anthony Forbes Roberts

Anton played rugby as a youth, his modest efforts as a back helping his Carson Graham Eagles win Vancouver’s district championships two consecutive years. And, Anton’s wife Tori played in the front row at McGill University and now their two boys Alex (12) and Dylan (10) play for AYR. The Forbes-Roberts family loves the overall athleticism and confidence the game instills.

President of AYR and former president of Rugby Georgia, Anton is USA Rugby 200-level certified. He is also a long-time youth soccer coach with InterAtlanta FC and Boy Scouts of America leader.

Shawn Hall

Way back in 2013, the Hall family met Stewart Haddock at a play date event in Grant Park, and have been involved with AYR ever since. Young Soma was hooked on rugby, so that meant the rest of the family was too. After learning enough about the game of rugby not to be a hindrance, Shawn started coaching with AYR in 2016. Although Shawn never played rugby in his youth, he played football on offense, defense, and special teams - just like rugby!

On the field, you'll find him teaching the boys to see the field like a linebacker, and giving each player their nickname. Behind the scenes, you'll find him working on AYR spreadsheets and emails, or working on plays to improve the team. Most importantly, he just wants to ensure that all the players are safe, are playing their best, and having fun.

Carrie Harwell

Carrie first learned about rugby when her son began playing in high school. She fell in love with the game and a year later her daughter wanted to play as a high school freshman. There was no rugby for girls offered at the time. So Carrie created a team and began working to grow the sport for girls in Georgia. Carrie is passionate about the character development and body positivity that comes from girls seeing how strong they are out on the rugby pitch. After years of hard work, Rugby Georgia has girls that have come through the program and now play at KSU, UGA, and Life University.

Russ Wofford

Russ has practiced commercial law for more than twenty years, in big firms and small. He litigates complex commercial disputes and advises companies on how to manage regulatory and litigation-related risks. After enjoying a mediocre rugby-playing career that began in college and continued for a few seasons thereafter, Russ took an extended break from the sport before returning as a Level Two World Rugby-certified referee. With other AYR leaders he has developed guidance on safe tackling for our multi-dimensional SafePlay program that focuses on Education, Prevention, and Training. Russ also enjoys introducing parents to the game through his ever-evolving “Rugby 101” presentation, and helps our coaches and players with Law interpretations they are likely to encounter during matches. His youngest son Richard has played flyhalf, fullback and winger on our U-10 and U-12 teams, and looks forward to continuing as a U-14 player this coming season.
